- What
makes Family Connections Christian Adoptions unique?
Family
Connections Christian Adoptions offers a full range of options for adoption. From
domestic adoption to intercountry, families can learn about
a program that works for them.
Education: We believe that our families are best equipped
to make decisions regarding the kind of child or children
best suited to join their family. Our families go through
an extensive program of education
where they learn the specific challenges faced by children
from troubled backgrounds. By learning what to expect, what
methods work best to remediate their issues from early childhood,
and by taking a good look at their own strengths and weaknesses,
families are able to make good choices for themselves and
the child they adopt.
Support: Many of our staff members are adoptive parents
themselves and can understand the concerns and questions voiced
by families. Once the adoption takes place, post-placement
services help strengthen the placement and support the family
throughout the adjustment period. Adoptive parent social and
support groups help round out the picture

- I've
heard that children from foster care are really "difficult"
and hard to raise. Is that true?
Children come to live in foster care because they have been
removed from their birth parents by the courts. This usually
occurs as a result of situations involving neglect and/or abuse.
Children from troubled backgrounds often have issues, such as
difficulty learning or speech delays stemming from their early
lives. At FCCA we strongly believe that living
in a stable, loving family who is willing to provide large doses
of love, support and resources, can remediate many of those
special challenges. Statistics prove that most children adopted
from foster care do very well in their new families and in their
adult lives.

- How
long does it take?
We tell families to give themselves one year from the time their
paperwork is completed. Usually, the time is much shorter. How
open and flexible the family is has a dramatic impact on the
timeliness of the placement.
