Are you interested in adopting? Below you will find an outline of the adoption process you will experience with us at Family Connections Christian Adoptions. Please keep in mind that this is a very general outline of the process, and if you would like to find out more about adopting with FCCA please feel free to contact us and/or visit our faq page for answers to frequently asked questions.

INFORMATION SESSION:
A free, informal meeting to provide general information about waiting children, the agency, and how to get started with a home study.  A phone call to the office will let you know the date, time and place of the next Information Session.  At the end of the meeting, families will be given the opportunity to fill out an Application and sign up for the next stage of the process.

ADOPTION PREPARATION CLASS 1:
A prerequisite to the homestudy, this class is the first of three classes which prepare applicants for adoption of waiting children. Run by volunteer leaders in an adoptive family's home, this is a relaxed session where applicants have a chance to ask questions about the homestudy process and basic adoption information.
PANEL OF ADOPTIVE PARENTS:
Several adoptive couples will share their experience and information about their adoption. Each branch office will provide a panel session, either as a separate class or as part of another class such as Information Session, or Adoption Preparation Class 1 or 2.

INTAKE INTERVIEW:
The family meets with the Interview and together they determine whether FCCA can help them find the child they would like to adopt.  If the answer is "yes," we will give them fingerprint forms, a list of documents to obtain, and a CD-ROM of paperwork to complete. NOTE: This is a day time appointment, during regular working hours (weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.)

ADOPTION PREPARATION CLASSES 2 AND 3:
Education is the emphasis in these group sessions, which may include from three to seven families Some of the information covered includes: (Note: these meetings are usually held on Saturdays).

INDIVIDUAL INTERVIEWS:
Your social worker meets with each of you individually, at the agency office, during regular working hours.

HOME VISIT:

The social worker will visit your home, at a time when all members of the household are present, and during regular working hours.

CHILD SEARCH AND PLACEMENT:
As you have been each step of the way, you are involved in the search for and placement of the child you will adopt.

POST PLACEMENT AND FINALIZATION:
FCCA will make the necessary visits and assist with the paperwork to help families finalize the adoption in court.
